We all know the rewards of being able to speak multiple languages. After all, it is with these benefits in mind that we pursue language study the way we do. English is considerably difficult to learn. I can recognize that the (seemingly infinite) grammar rules and exceptions can make the learning process difficult for non native speakers. There is, however, one area where those who want to learn English have an advantage: Reading.

Western literature is really quite vast. There are so many books, websites, blogs, scripts, and materials on the internet that it is easy to always find something to read. The biggest challenge as a language learner when it comes to reading, is putting forth the effort to read something every day. While that “Wall Street Journal” article may seem too bothersome to read at first, by training ourselves to sit down, focus, and read in another language, we can desensitize ourselves to the stress. Find something you like to read about, and try reading about it in another language!
