John Lennon was a member of a popular British rock group, the Beatles. The group led the rock music world in the 1960’s. After the breakup of the Beatles, John sent a message of love and peace to people worldwide. He held various kinds of peace events with his Japanese wife, Yoko Ono. In his best-known hit, “Imagine”, he wrote, “Imagine! There’s no countries and nothing to kill or die for.” In December, 1980, he was shot to death in New York City by one of his fans. He was 40. The John Lennon Museum opened in Saitama City in 2000, the 60th anniversary of his birth.
