BLOG : # 71 : PUTTING YOUR BIG GIRL PANTS ON !!!

With August just days away, as I write this just as July is coming to a close, I sit in wonder as to how the year of 2018 is going by so fast. I am sorry to say that so far it has been a very tough year for me and I will be glad when I can celebrate THE HOLIDAYS once more and look forward to a year that will be bright and new, happy and full of long awaited joys.

Unfortunately, My Dear Ones, lately, I have been through a lot of stuff that I am sure that you yourselves would not like to go through, but here I am, having to go through it and definitely not wanting to.

Even though I am lucky enough to live here in Hawaii, on THE BIG ISLAND, in Hilo, life is not easy here. I live in a place where I suddenly feel I don’t belong. At one time, things were okay. I was handling things quite well actually, if I do say so myself. During the 33 years I have lived in this one apartment, I have seen many things. Death being the main one. And learning how to be a Widow another one. I am learning still how to handle and working with both. Being alone is another one. Thank goodness for my Guard Cat — Baby Paws —. I do not know what I would do without him. He guards his Mama (ME) and he stands his ground against any D O G, no matter how big. (Like the big white lady dog who lives next door and is a PURE PITBULL !!!). (Also, there are two other dogs here who are deathly afraid of my PAWS and they run away from him. A fourth dog here though, a lady dog too, just keeps to herself and Paws allows her passage past our place to go and do her business.).

I am slowly getting use to all the dogs around here. (I think I am the only one who has a cat.). I kinda wish I had one again. But that will not happen. Not anytime soon. Besides, WHO would WALK it? I am in no condition to do so. Maybe I could get one and HIRE SOMEONE to do that for me? HA ? HA ? HA ?

But what I have not been able to handle lately is all the HOMELESS people who have been coming around here, using the tenants washers and dryers to do their laundry. Using the laundry room electric to charge their cell phones. Bringing clothes and towels and somehow managing to bathe themselves in back of the building where no one can see. Braking into the laundry room to use it as a sleeping place especially at night. There is also the writing of a lot of not-so-nice-words on our laundry table as well as on the washers and dryers themselves. Also braking into the back shed so people could smoke their POT and “DO” their drug thing.

I was so petrified at one point that I went directly to God and prayed and told HIM how scared I was. And that one of the male tenants here was trying to help us and watch over the place for us but that I myself was ready to give up. For the first time in all the time I have been here, in this place, I wanted to actually LEAVE. But the question was, where would I go? What place would accept me AND a CAT? No one and no place I knew. So here I am, still here. In the past two weeks, I have even been to afraid to go downstairs and do my laundry. So, I waited. And prayed. And cried. And prayed some more. And waited.

Waiting is something some one sometimes has to do.

Have things gotten better here yet?

A bit.

It has quieted down a bit. Not a soul came around this morning. And because of this, I knew things were safe for just right now and I PUT MY BIG GIRL PANTS ON and went downstairs and did my laundry without fear of some unknown person coming in from out of no where whom I did not know. I KNEW GOD HAD DONE WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE TO KEEP THIS PLACE AND ALL OF US TENANTS SAFE FOR NOW.

AND FOR THIS, I AM GRATEFUL. FOR THIS I AM THANKFUL.

And if things start up again, I know who to turn to and will give it to HIM to handle wearing my BIG GIRL PANTS and all.

ALOHA,
