I think to myself all the time while riding the train to and from work, “Japan is, indeed, a train country.

” Every day millions of people pack themselves into these steel cars and ride the rails all across this country, rarely ever giving second thought to it. The success and efficiency of the public transportation systems in Japan is well known.

My favorite train line is the Tozai line. It is super cheap, runs often, runs on time, and covers a lot of ground. It has stops in places I like to go to, and has many great junction points. What a convenient railway!

Of course, I am also fond of Toyo line, but it is so costly that I avoid using it.

My least favorite line is the Hokuso line. It is almost the opposite of Tozai in every way. I can’t understand why a train line so expensive runs so infrequently. I had to use Hokuso line often last year, and I couldn’t stand it!

Of course, Shinkansen are world famous, and I love riding them, but I only have time to do so during busy seasons…so I try to avoid them.

Which trains are your favorite? Why?
