【LISTENINGの日本語訳】

野口英世博士は何故日本人の間でそんなに有名なのか？　我々は、ほとんど毎日、彼の肖像を、千円札で見ているからだ。医師としては、何をしたのか？　彼は、ロックフェラー財団で、南米とアフリカの黄熱病を研究した。野口博士は、ガーナに滞在中、１９２８年に５１歳で、その病気（黄熱病）で亡くなった。ニューヨークにある彼の墓石には、「人類のために生き、人類のために死んだ」という言葉が書かれている。日本政府は、賞金１億円の野口英世アフリカ賞を設立した。
