Pre-Halloween Weekend!!! 「あぜりあ」本八幡・西船橋・津田沼・佐倉

TO ALL MY BLOGGING READERS WITH LOVE IN JAPAN!

Here we are again! Oh Gosh My Dear Readers! Did I really just say that? Here we are again? WOW. That is a quote from a real scary movie called THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM that I told your Hitomi-san about when she asked me if I recommended it for her to watch. It turns out I did not. So, she did not. Anyway, I am also using those words because, gee, look at where we are! It is the weekend before Halloween already. So, lets get going and have some fun. I personally, have already begun. Happy Reading To All Of You!

BLOG: #84: Pre-Halloween Weekend!!!

I have my Gevalia Coffee to drink here, so let us begin! It is The Pre-Halloween Weekend and hopefully, my Darling Readers, you have all made your plans by now for THE BIG SPOOKY, SCARY, NIGHT! I certainly would enjoy knowing what they are. Would you like to share? Maybe our Hitomi-san will share? I know that your schools are all decorated for the fun and Halloween Week was celebrated. I would have loved and enjoyed seeing that1

Me? I am starting slowly it seems. I have sent out my cards and have also gotten a few. From one person I received 2 only because her first one had D0GS on it, (no Halloween cats because she said she could not find any. LIKE WHERE DID SHE SHOP?).When the second one came, it did at last, have a Halloween kitten on it, sleeping with it’s cute little chin on a wee tiny pumpkin and wearing a small witch hat. Going by her first card, I did not send one with a cat either. But I PLANNED IT THAT WAY. My card had a bottle of WINE in the front and it said: I THINK MY HOUSE IS HAUNTED. When you opened the card, it showed a glass of red wine, three-fourths empty and the ending words were: MY WINE KEEPS DISAPPEARING ……..AND I AM THE ONLY ONE HOME! The rest of my cards I sent out were friendly Halloween ones. The non-scary ones.

The rest of my weekend so far, is going so well. I could barely wait until MIDNIGHT came this morning. I then found myself nibbling on DIP AND CHIPS, which I will have some more of late on, and watched old Dick Van Dyke shows on HULU-PLUS. I hope by Halloween itself I will find some good spooky movies to watch or at least a good cooking show with a great Halloween theme.

When I was growing in the MAINLAND part of the USA, we celebrated Halloween differently from the way it is celebrated here. Over the years, I suppose you can say things have changed. When I was growing up, on Halloween Night, we went all over the place, from house to house getting Halloween candy. And I guess for a few years or so here, it was like that. But now……children only go TRICK OR TREATING to places they know. Not to strangers homes. They also go to The Prince Kuhio Plaza cause all the stores there give out candy. The place is safe and well lighted. They also may go to Halloween Parties of people they know. And also, if the CHURCH has some good going on that night, they will go out to that. I did that one year and I had a real blast. Now however, on The Mainland, I think it may be has changed too…..with children going to only places they know well and can be safe.

Also, one must keep in mind that Halloween is on a SCHOOL NIGHT again this year, so no one stays out very long or very late. Only when Halloween is on a Friday or Saturday Night do the kids stay out a bit longer…….but still not THAT much longer I guess.

I have planned my Halloween Night meal if you are wondering at all. I have planned on having LASAGNA (the store-bought, ready-made kind that you heat up in the oven) which is sort of embarrassing really because I should have learned how to make HOME-MADE LASAGNA by now!!! Especially when I buy my own French bread and make my own Garlic Bread which I also am planning for that night. And a salad. Peas, and Onions, and mayonnaise? And of course there is the Dip and Chips, if there is any LEFT by then, and of course, the Halloween Candy I bought. Will there be some left of that? We will see.

This also leaves the question also of whether I will be dressing up and or drinking or not. In my day, we were (sort of) high-class and called drinks, ‘COCKTAILS’ as in” Would you care for a cocktail before dinner? My parents drank ….. a lot especially when we went out on Friday Nights for our fish meal at the restaurant. I liked going cause then all I had was a “Shirley Temple” which is 7-Up with a Cherry in it and for dinner I had Shrimp Cocktail with a sauce and Lobster with Drawn Butter for my Main Course. Plus a salad. YUM.

Will I be drinking then? Maybe. I owe some to myself. As for dressing up on that night, I guess I really had not planned to. But one never knows because there is still time to do some searching for such things yet. And of course if drinking is planned: NO MEDICATION SHOULD BE TAKEN. It is dangerous to mix the two items. One must ALWAYS be extra careful. AND NO STREET DRUGS EITHER. NOT EVER.

I ASK YOU MY DEAR READERS, MY FRIENDS. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. BE EXTRA CAREFUL AND EXTRA SAFE WHEN YOU GO OUT THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT. I LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH. AND I CARE.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!!
