Studio Ghibli Museum 英会話 「あぜりあ」本八幡・西船橋・津田沼・佐倉
Hi, it`s Adam!
Do you like Studio Ghibli? Maybe you know about movies like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, or Kiki`s Delivery Service. Recently I went to the Studio Ghibli Museum in Mitaka. Reserving a space is difficult, and is often done several months beforehand.
Ever since I watched Spirited Away (sen to chihiro no kamikakushi), I fell in love with Hayao Miyazaki`s work. Some people say that his animation is like moving paintings. At the museum, you can see what the workspace of Studio Ghibli animators looks like. Even their raw sketches and drafts are beautiful!
It`s evident that Hayao Miyazaki had a lot of inspiration in his own work. For example, my coworker told me that Hayao`s work would not be the same if it weren`t for Osamu Tezuka. And if you watch Porco Rosso, Hayao`s inspiration of Italian aviation was apparent. My favorite part of the museum was seeing the artist’s inspiration books. The artists take photos of nature, villages, or anything they`re inspired by and create a huge collection. I saw many pictures of German villages and beautiful skies and forests.
If you go to the upper grounds of the museum, you will arrive at a rooftop garden. A life-sized statue from the movie Castle in the Sky is there (see picture). You will feel like you`re in the movie yourself!
