superhero movie 英会話 「あぜりあ」本八幡・西船橋・津田沼・佐倉

Hello again. It seems like there is a new superhero movie every month these days. Well, maybe not every month but there are a least a few of them every year. Spiderman, Superman, Batman have all been done and done again. There was also Batman Vs. Superman, which seemed like a great idea, but ended up really sucking. Another big franchise that doesn’t look like dying down anytime soon is Marvel’s X-men universe. Frankly, this is the series I’m getting most tired of. There are only so many movies I can watch about the origin of Wolverine. I don’t want to give the impression that I see all these movies, because I don’t, but I am definitely aware of them. Maybe the biggest money-earner is the Avengers, that is Ironman, Hawkeye, Black Widow, The Incredible Hulk, and The Mighty Thor. I saw all those, but now they are kind of just jumbled together in my memory. Some of these movies are better than others, but on some level they are all very similar, and it’s getting hard to get excited about the next one. They do play games with the tone. For example, the three Batman movies were kind of dark and brooding, but when they tried that same tone with Superman, it was terrible. Superman wearing red underwear saving children with John Williams music is way better than an angst-ridden violent Superman who destroys entire cities. I’m sure people who read and loved the comics all these movies are based on will continue to watch, but I’m wondering if other people are getting super-hero fatigue. I hear there is an Aquaman movie coming out next year or the year after. Unless that gets amazing reviews and everyone says it is the best superhero movie yet, I have exactly zero interest in seeing it. You kind of get the impression they are scraping the bottom of the barrel of where to find the next billion-dollar superhero action movie (no offense intended to die-hard Aquaman fans. He’s not exactly Superman though).
