Marriage Ceremonies

I recently went to a wedding in Ebisu. My friend got married in a small Japanese Catholic chapel, and afterwards, we ate some great food in the reception hall. I haven’t been to a western style Japanese wedding before, only a traditional style one in the countryside. Thus, this was an exciting experience for me. Something that surprised me was how small the wedding ceremonies was, despite how awesome and beautiful the wedding hall was. There were only about 20 people total present at the event and reception.

I thought the food was delicious. There was sushi with cream cheese and avocado, steak, and various other dishes. I had my fill of wine, whiskey, and beer. The bride’s family was super nice, and there was even some dancing after. Something that struck me as cool was how the priest spoke in both English and Japanese. Even the hymns were bilingual! The whole ceremony lasted roughly 4 hours or so, but it was an enjoyable experience. I can’t wait to get married myself someday!
