TIME TO DIET ??? MAYBE NOT !!! 「あぜりあ」本八幡・西船橋・津田沼・佐倉

TO MY VERY WONDERFUL AND VERY BLESSED BLOG READERS IN JAPAN !!!

Greetings To All Of You, My Darling Readers, Oh Yes!

Here be I, very happy to be here, sharing my continuing Thanksgiving Weekend with all of you! Part of my Holiday Time! Oh Yes My Dear Ones! I am so glad to be sharing my very long weekend with you. It kinda makes you wish it could last forever. With delicious and yummy tasting Holidays like Thanksgiving, the biggest eating Holiday of The Entire Year, who could blame one? Well, one thing is for sure My Dear Ones, I am not gonna be the one taking up any of that so-called blame—if there is to be such a thing.

Unfortunately however, all weekends, no matter how terrific and special they are, must come to an end which means this one does too and sadly, those who have jobs, must return to work while still dreaming of their big, wonderful-tasting meal. That Turkey with all the trimming. And boasting to others, their co-workers no doubt, about exactly WHAT IS WAS THEY ATE, as well as just HOW MUCH of EACH THING, no matter how small.

My Dear Friends And Dear Readers! I may be thankfully RETIRED and do not have to return to work after such a wonderful and divinely delicious day but all that food whether it be Thanksgiving or some other time—brings something else—especially for me, Your Dear Mary Ann-san—and worry about such things whether it is THE HOLIDAYS of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years or not. Hence today’s Blog # 88. TIME TO DIET ??? MAYBE NOT !!! Please enjoy !

BLOG : # 88 : TIME TO DIET ??? MAYBE NOT !!!

The Big Thanksgiving Weekend might not be over yet as I write these words which means the celebrating really and truly is not quite yet over with either, but THE DAY itself, is. And this means, we all start getting down to the business now of not eating so much but spending our time trying to shop for another of our big American Holidays which will be here soon. The Holiday of Christmas and the buying of presents. However, if you thought for even one minute that I am one of those people who would go out on what is called: Black Friday here to begin my shopping for Christmas, no sir, no way, no how. Oh no. I know better than to do that.

I am in no hurry. I can shop after Black Friday—when it is safer—especially for people like me. Besides, at a height of a mere 4’10” and 196 pounds and can barely walk without assistance (walker not included) I have to really watch it so it is best I watch over the pounds I have to start losing of which I have already given myself a year to do—a year and six days actually—until next Thanksgiving.

So—the question is: Do I Go On A Diet Or Not?

If I want to lose weight — lose those extra big ugly pounds — I should say yes and start the losing process NOW so I can be thin again.

But I think there is something all of you, My Dear Readers, should know first and this is something I learned a LONG time ago and I have known this secret for years now.

DIETS DO NOT WORK.

Not really. They only make the food behave. And once you “go off” the Diet” you put the weight back on.

So, just how does one lose weight when the weight HAS to come off? I have done it myself and it does work. Honestly. I just have not bothered to do it lately. I have told my friends how to do it and they have done it and the weight stayed off. It is just a matter of it wanting it to stay off BAD ENOUGH for me to keep it off.

So has the time come for me finally? I would like to think so, to hope so.

To begin: Eat your 3 meals a day. Plus your desserts. AND your snacks. DO NOT SKIP ANYTHING. If you are use to eating 3 huge meals, start that way if you have to, but EAT SLOWLY — take your time and do not eat like your house is on fire. I DO MEAN EAT SLOWLY. CHEW YOUR FOOD. TASTE IT AND ENJOY IT. Do this with all that you eat. And slowly, you will begin to find that you can not finish everything. WEIGH only once a week. Or once every two weeks so you will not be disappointed when you get on the scale. DRINK LOTS OF WATER IN BETWEEN MEALS AND AFTER. Have different snacks and different desserts. Like a slice of pie one night, an orange another night, a pear, a small slice of cake, a small bar of candy perhaps, an apple. A diet soda. But WATER is best.

Start a Journal if you have to or want to telling it and yourself, how you are doing. (And at 196 pounds I may have to!). I mean come on! I was good, I had my Breakfast this morning. I had a fried sunny-side-up egg, sausage, one-half of a sourdough English Muffin using REAL butter and NOT margarine and coffee. I am now due for Luncheon. I will have some water while I am making it and then later I shall think of what to have for my Supper and snacks and desserts.

So to “Diet” or not. I say no. Just eat your regular meals, snacks, and desserts and learn to cut down. It can be done and you are the one who can do it. I am doing it starting at 196—which is better than 225. So I will take what I can get and hope for the best. I am beginning now and at 196 because I KNOW how I am and can be and because of that alone, it might just take me a year, or perhaps more time still for the weight to come off. But that is okay. It will happen sometime.

Wish me luck!

Aloha,
Mary Ann-san
